Tips & Hints

Transport, Travel, and Directions

🌟

You don't need to be an Arabic expert to teach your child. Consistency, encouragement, and making it fun are far more important than perfection. These tips will help you feel confident and prepared.

🏫 For Teachers

  • Transport and travel naturally integrates all three tenses — use it as a consolidation topic for tense work.
  • Map work builds confidence with prepositions and directions. Use maps of real Arab cities for authenticity.
  • The travel brochure is a creative activity that motivates students who prefer visual and design-based work.
  • If any students have visited Arab countries, invite them to share their experiences — real stories are powerful.

🏠 For Parents

  • Travel vocabulary is practical and exciting. Talk about family holidays using Arabic words.
  • When driving or on public transport, practise transport words: سيارة, حافلة, قطار — point and say the Arabic.
  • Ask your child to plan a dream holiday in Arabic — where would they go and what would they do?
  • If you plan a trip to an Arabic-speaking country, involve your child in the Arabic planning — booking phrases, destination names.

💡 Learning Hints & Memory Tricks

  • بال (bil) means "by" for transport: بالسيارة (by car), بالطائرة (by plane), بالقطار (by train). Just add بال before the vehicle.
  • سافرت (safart) means "I travelled" — it comes from the root س-ف-ر. سفر (travel), مسافر (traveller), سفارة (embassy) — all related!
  • For directions, three phrases get you almost anywhere: مباشرة (straight), يمين (right), يسار (left).
