Tips & Hints
Bigger Numbers
🌟
You don't need to be an Arabic expert to teach your child. Consistency, encouragement, and making it fun are far more important than perfection. These tips will help you feel confident and prepared.
🏫 For Teachers
- The tens pattern (-uun ending) makes these numbers easier to learn — highlight the pattern clearly.
- Mi'a (100) is a milestone — celebrate it! Children love reaching big numbers.
- Connect to maths: counting in tens is a skill from maths lessons — the Arabic just adds a language layer.
- Use concrete objects (blocks of 10) to make the tens tangible.
🏠 For Parents
- Counting in tens is something your child does in maths — now they can do it in Arabic too!
- The tens all end in "-uun" sound, which makes them easier to remember as a pattern.
- Mi'a (100) is a big deal — celebrate reaching this milestone with your child!
- Try counting coins, toys, or snack items in tens using Arabic numbers.
💡 Learning Hints & Memory Tricks
- ✦All the tens end in "-uun": Ishruun (20), Thalathuun (30), Arba'uun (40)... spot the pattern!
- ✦Mi'a (100) is a special word — it does not follow the -uun pattern. Just memorise it!
- ✦The tens are based on numbers you already know: thalaatha (3) becomes thalathuun (30)!
