Tips & Hints
Alphabet Mastery
🌟
You don't need to be an Arabic expert to teach your child. Consistency, encouragement, and making it fun are far more important than perfection. These tips will help you feel confident and prepared.
🏫 For Teachers
- Year 2 alphabet work focuses on mastery and writing — children should move from recognition to production.
- Use the self-assessment at the start to differentiate: some children need more support on basics.
- Letter sounds are distinct from letter names in Arabic — make this distinction clear.
- Display a high-quality alphabet chart and refer to it constantly throughout the year.
🏠 For Parents
- Your child learned the alphabet in Year 1 — this term is about making that knowledge solid and automatic.
- Practise writing Arabic letters together at home — even 5 minutes of daily practice makes a difference.
- If your child struggles with certain letters, focus on just 2–3 at a time rather than all 28.
- An Arabic writing pad with guidelines helps children form letters with correct proportions.
💡 Learning Hints & Memory Tricks
- ✦Letters ب, ت, ث all have the same shape — only the dots change! 1 below, 2 above, 3 above.
- ✦Letters ج, ح, خ are the same base shape too — no dot, no dot, one dot above.
- ✦When you write Arabic letters, always start from the right side — Arabic goes right to left!
