Tips & Hints
All the Colours
🌟
You don't need to be an Arabic expert to teach your child. Consistency, encouragement, and making it fun are far more important than perfection. These tips will help you feel confident and prepared.
🏫 For Teachers
- By now children should know about 10 colours — a fantastic base for combining with other topics later.
- Some children may mix up similar-sounding colours — use gestures or colour-coded hand signals.
- Pair stronger learners with those who need support for the description activities.
- Create a permanent colour display in the classroom with Arabic labels as a go-to reference.
🏠 For Parents
- Ask your child to sort the laundry by colour and name each pile in Arabic — learning through chores!
- When reading picture books together, pause to name colours in Arabic.
- If your child says a colour in English, gently add the Arabic: "Yes, green — that's akhdar!"
- Weave Arabic colours into daily conversation: "Pass the bunni bread" or "I like your wardi top."
💡 Learning Hints & Memory Tricks
- ✦"Abyad" (white) starts with "Ab" — think "ABsolutely white, like a blank page!"
- ✦"Wardi" (pink) comes from "warda" meaning rose — pink like a beautiful rose!
- ✦"Bunni" (brown) sounds like "bunny" — think of a brown bunny rabbit!
