White and Black

Lesson Objectives

  • Say "abyad" (white) and "aswad" (black)

🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)

Quick colour recap: hold up colour cards from last topic — can they name them all?

Main Activities

  1. 1Introduce white (أبيض) and black (أسود) — find examples in the room
  2. 2Opposites game: flash a white card — "Abyad!", flash black — "Aswad!"
  3. 3Colour the panda: colour a panda and label the black and white parts in Arabic
  4. 4Run to the colour: call out Arabic colours — children run to touch something that colour

Extension Challenge

Pink and Brown

30–35 minutes

Lesson Objectives

  • Say "wardi" (pink) and "bunni" (brown)
  • Name 10 colours in Arabic

🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)

Colour chain: go around the circle, each child says a different Arabic colour — no repeats!

Main Activities

  1. 1Introduce pink (وردي) and brown (بني) — "Wardi" comes from "ward" meaning rose!
  2. 2Colour hunt: find 2 pink things and 2 brown things in the classroom — report in Arabic
  3. 3Create a colour palette chart with all 10 colours, labelled in Arabic
  4. 4Colour dictation: teacher says an Arabic colour, children colour a circle that colour

Describing with Colours

  • Describe objects using colour words in Arabic
  • Combine a colour word with a noun

Colour whispers: whisper an Arabic colour to your partner — they point to something that colour!

Main Activities

  1. 1Model combining words: "Tuffaha hamra" (red apple), "Samaa zarqa" (blue sky)
  2. 2Picture description: show pictures — children say the colour in Arabic
  3. 3Draw and describe: draw 5 objects and write the Arabic colour name next to each
  4. 4Colour quiz show: teams compete to name colours the fastest

🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)

Colour yoga: each colour has a pose — teacher calls Arabic colours, children strike the pose!

Main Activities

  1. 1Colour memory game: place cards face down, turn two — match while saying the Arabic name
  2. 2Create a "My Colour Dictionary" mini-book with all colours and Arabic labels
  3. 3Colour patterns: create a pattern using Arabic colour names (ahmar, azraq, ahmar, azraq...)
