Vocabulary Audit: What Do I Know?

50–55 minutes

Lesson Objectives

  • Recall vocabulary from all topic areas studied since Year 7
  • Identify personal vocabulary strengths and gaps

🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)

Speed recall: 60-second topic blitz — teacher calls a topic, students write as many Arabic words as possible. Repeat for 5 topics.

Main Activities

  1. 1Complete a vocabulary audit across all domains: family, school, food, hobbies, transport, weather, jobs, health, nature, places
  2. 2Traffic light assessment: green = I know this well, amber = I sort of know it, red = I need to relearn this
  3. 3Create a personal revision priority list based on the audit results
  4. 4Vocab cards worksheet: write revision cards for your top 20 "red" and "amber" words

Word association: teacher says an Arabic word, students call out a connected word — chain continues until it breaks.

Main Activities

  2. 2Create a large mind map for one topic area, including words from related topics
