🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)
Opinion audit: how many ways can students say "I think" in Arabic? List them all — then learn more!
Main Activities
- 1Teach a wide range of opinion phrases: في رأيي (in my opinion), أعتقد أن (I believe that), أظن أن (I think that), يبدو لي أن (it seems to me that), من وجهة نظري (from my point of view), بالنسبة لي (for me/as far as I'm concerned)
- 2Strength scale: rank opinion phrases from mild to strong
- 3Practice: rewrite the same opinion 6 different ways using different opinion phrases

Giving Multiple Reasons

🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)
Reason challenge: teacher gives an opinion — students race to give as many reasons as possible in Arabic.
Main Activities
- 1Teach multiple reason phrases: لأن (because), بسبب (because of/due to), حيث أن (since/given that), إذ أن (as/since)
- 2Model: give an opinion and support it with 3 different reasons, each introduced differently
- 3Practice: write opinions on 5 topics, each supported by at least 2 reasons using different phrases
- 4Writing practice: write a detailed paragraph about "My Favourite Season" with opinion and multiple reasons

Considering Different Perspectives
Lesson Objectives

🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)
Two sides: read a statement — half the class argues for, half argues against. Then swap!
Main Activities
- 1Teach balance phrases: من ناحية (on one hand), من ناحية أخرى (on the other hand), بينما يعتقد البعض (while some believe), يرى آخرون أن (others think that)
- 2Model a balanced paragraph: present one view, then the opposite view, then your own conclusion

Writing an Opinion Piece

- Use a variety of opinion, reason, and balance phrases
🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)
Opinion brainstorm: choose a topic — map out your opinion, 3 reasons for, 2 reasons against, and your conclusion.
Main Activities
- 1Plan a structured opinion piece: introduction (state the topic), paragraph 2 (arguments for), paragraph 3 (arguments against), conclusion (your opinion with strongest reason)
- 2Write the full opinion piece (15+ sentences across 4 paragraphs)
- 3Include: varied opinion phrases, multiple reason phrases, balance phrases, connectives, and all three tenses
- 4Picture vocab activity: create a visual organiser showing the structure of your opinion piece
