Writing Longer Texts

1

Planning and Structuring a Text

45–50 minutes

Lesson Objectives

  • Plan a multi-paragraph text with clear structure
  • Use a planning framework for Arabic writing

🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)

Good vs bad writing: display two Arabic paragraphs — one well-structured, one chaotic. Students identify which is better and why.

Main Activities

  1. 1Teach text structure: مقدمة (introduction), فقرات رئيسية (main paragraphs), خاتمة (conclusion)
  2. 2Model planning: choose a topic ("My School") and plan 3 paragraphs with bullet points
  3. 3Practice: students choose from 3 topics and create their own plan using the planning template
  4. 4Vocab cards worksheet: write key structural phrases — مقدمة، فقرة، خاتمة — with definitions

  3. 3Guided writing: students write a similar paragraph about "My Family" using all three tenses
