Forming the Future Tense with سوف and سـ

  • Form future tense using سوف + present tense verb
  • Form future tense using the prefix سـ

🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)

Dreams and plans: what do you want to do this weekend? Next holiday? When you grow up? Discuss in English, then switch to Arabic.

Main Activities

  1. 1Explain the simplicity of Arabic future tense: just add سوف or سـ before a present tense verb!
  2. 2Model examples: سوف أذهب / سأذهب (I will go), سوف يكتب / سيكتب (he will write)
  3. 3Practice: convert 10 present tense sentences into future tense using both سوف and سـ

Tense traffic lights: teacher reads sentences — students hold up green (present), red (past), or amber (future) cards.

Main Activities

  1. 1Create a three-column comparison chart: past (suffix), present (prefix), future (سوف/سـ + present)
  2. 2Tense transformation drill: given a sentence in one tense, rewrite it in the other two
  3. 3Mixed tense paragraph: read a text that uses all three tenses — highlight and label each verb
