My Name, Age, and Where I Live

45–50 minutes

Lesson Objectives

  • Introduce yourself with name, age, and city
  • Use اسمي, عمري, and أسكن في correctly

🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)

Name chain: each student says "اسمي..." and repeats all previous names — how far can the class get?

Main Activities

  1. 1Teach the three key phrases: اسمي (my name is), عمري (my age is), أسكن في (I live in)
  2. 2Model a self-introduction and have students repeat the structure with their own details
  3. 3Pair practice: introduce yourself to your partner, then introduce your partner to another pair
  4. 4Vocab cards worksheet: write key introduction phrases with translations and examples

Introducing Family Members

Family tree challenge: draw your family tree and label everyone with Arabic family words from earlier years.

Main Activities

  1. 1Teach هذا (this is, m.) and هذه (this is, f.) for introducing others
  2. 2Practise: "هذا أبي، اسمه..." and "هذه أمي، اسمها..." with family vocabulary
  3. 3Photo activity: bring a family photo (or use a stock image) and introduce each person

Asking About Others

Speed dating: students have 60 seconds with each partner to learn their name, age, and one hobby in Arabic.

Main Activities

  1. 1Teach question forms: ما اسمك؟ (What is your name?), كم عمرك؟ (How old are you?), أين تسكن؟ (Where do you live?)
  2. 2Role play: student A is a new student, student B welcomes them and asks questions
  3. 3Carousel activity: students move around the room interviewing 5 classmates and recording answers
  4. 4Tracing worksheet: practise writing questions and answers in neat Arabic script

Formal Self-Introduction Presentation

Greetings review: practise السلام عليكم, مرحباً, and appropriate responses as formal openers.

Main Activities

  2. 2Students write a formal self-introduction script: greeting, name, age, city, school, hobby, closing
  3. 3Rehearsal: practise delivery with a partner, focusing on pronunciation and confidence
