Tips & Hints

Verbs in Action

🌟

You don't need to be an Arabic expert to teach your child. Consistency, encouragement, and making it fun are far more important than perfection. These tips will help you feel confident and prepared.

🏫 For Teachers

  • Verb conjugation is the most important grammar skill at this level — make it a daily warm-up routine.
  • Use a "verb of the week" display — conjugate one verb fully and use it in sentences throughout the week.
  • The diary writing format is excellent for extended writing practice — consider making it a weekly routine.
  • For struggling learners, focus on the 3 most common forms: I (أ), he (ي), she (ت) before expanding.

🏠 For Parents

  • Ask your child to tell you about their day in Arabic, even if they only manage a few verbs.
  • Arabic verbs follow regular patterns — if your child knows one verb well, they can apply the same pattern to others.
  • Encourage diary writing in Arabic at home — even one sentence per day builds fluency.
  • Don't worry about perfect conjugation — understanding that verbs change for different people is the key concept.

💡 Learning Hints & Memory Tricks

  • يدرس (yadrus - he studies) and مدرسة (madrasa - school) share the same root د-ر-س. Arabic roots connect words beautifully!
  • يساعد (yusaa'id - he helps) — the pattern يُفاعِل indicates interaction or participation.
  • يتكلم (yatakallam - he speaks) — the تَ before the root indicates a reflexive action: "he makes himself speak."
