I Think That...

Lesson Objectives

  • Learn opinion phrases in Arabic
  • Express simple opinions about familiar topics

🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)

Opinion line: make a statement — pupils stand on a line from "agree" (أوافق) to "disagree" (لا أوافق).

Main Activities

  1. 1Introduce opinion phrases: "أعتقد أن..." (I think that...), "أفضّل..." (I prefer...), "رأيي أن..." (My opinion is that...)
  2. 2Model: "أعتقد أن الرياضة مهمة" (I think sport is important)
  3. 3Topic cards: pupils pick a topic and share their opinion in Arabic
  4. 4Complete the Opinions Vocab Cards worksheet

  • Build reasoned arguments in Arabic

🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)

Why? Why? Why? Teacher gives an opinion — pupils ask "لماذا؟" — teacher gives a reason with "لأن...".

Main Activities

  1. 1Teach: "لأن..." (because...) and "لأنه/لأنها..." (because he/she/it...)
  2. 2Model: "أحب الصيف لأن الجو حار" (I like summer because the weather is hot)
  3. 3Practise adding reasons to opinions from Lesson 1
  4. 4Write 4 opinion + reason sentences on different topics

Agreeing and Disagreeing

  • Agree and disagree politely in Arabic
  • Have a discussion expressing different views

🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)

Agree/disagree paddles: teacher reads statements in Arabic — pupils hold up أوافق or لا أوافق.

Main Activities

  1. 1Teach: "أوافق" (I agree), "لا أوافق" (I disagree), "ربما" (maybe), "أنا أيضاً" (me too)
  2. 2Teach polite disagreement: "أحترم رأيك لكن..." (I respect your opinion but...)
  3. 3Debate activity: two teams discuss a topic, using opinion and agreement/disagreement phrases
  4. 4Write a dialogue showing two people with different opinions

Opinion speed round: teacher gives a topic — each pupil gives a quick opinion in Arabic.

Main Activities
