How Do You Travel?

Lesson Objectives

  • Learn 8 types of transport in Arabic
  • Say how you get to school

🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)

Sound effects: play transport sounds (car horn, plane, train) — pupils guess and say the Arabic word.

Main Activities

  1. 1Introduce 8 transport words: سيارة (car), حافلة (bus), طائرة (plane), دراجة (bicycle), قطار (train), سفينة (ship), مترو (metro), دراجة نارية (motorbike)
  2. 2Flashcard matching game: Arabic word to transport picture
  3. 3Practise: "أذهب إلى المدرسة بـ..." (I go to school by...)

Transport Preferences

  • Express transport preferences
  • Use "أفضل..." (I prefer...)

🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)

Class vote: hold up transport cards — which is the class favourite? Say it in Arabic.

Main Activities

  1. 1Teach preference phrases: "أفضل..." (I prefer...), "أحب..." (I like...), "لا أحب..." (I don't like...)
  2. 2Survey activity: ask 5 classmates their favourite transport, record in Arabic
  3. 3Create a bar chart of class transport preferences with Arabic labels
  4. 4Write sentences: "أفضل السيارة لأنها سريعة" (I prefer the car because it is fast)
