Tips & Hints

Arabic Pronouns

🌟

You don't need to be an Arabic expert to teach your child. Consistency, encouragement, and making it fun are far more important than perfection. These tips will help you feel confident and prepared.

🏫 For Teachers

  • Arabic has different words for "you" depending on gender — keep this simple and natural at this stage.
  • Do not expect perfect pronoun use — exposure and practice are what matter at this age.
  • Pronouns are essential building blocks for sentences — they unlock so much communication.
  • Use drama and role-play to practise pronouns in context — it feels more natural than worksheets.

🏠 For Parents

  • Your child is learning that Arabic has separate words for "you" (male) and "you" (female) — fascinating!
  • Practise pronouns at home: point to people and say the correct Arabic pronoun together.
  • Do not worry about getting gender exactly right every time — what matters is practice and exposure.
  • Pronouns are tiny words but they are the backbone of sentences — every sentence needs a subject!

💡 Learning Hints & Memory Tricks

  • "Ana" (I) is the easiest pronoun — you already know it from "Ana sa'iid" (I am happy)!
  • "Huwa" (he) and "Hiya" (she) — "Hu" for him, "Hi" for her — just like English H-words!
  • "Nahnu" (we) — when you are together with others, you are "Nahnu"!
