Tips & Hints

At School

🌟

You don't need to be an Arabic expert to teach your child. Consistency, encouragement, and making it fun are far more important than perfection. These tips will help you feel confident and prepared.

🏫 For Teachers

  • School vocabulary is immediately relevant — children can practise it every day in the classroom.
  • Labelling the actual classroom creates an immersive Arabic environment at no cost.
  • The phrase "fi al-madrasa" (at school) gives children a useful sentence starter.
  • Connect school vocabulary to the daily routine: "Take out your kitaab" instead of "book".

🏠 For Parents

  • Ask your child what school items are called in Arabic — they learn these in a real classroom context.
  • Try labelling some items at home with Arabic names — the desk, bookshelf, or pencil case.
  • When packing their school bag, name items in Arabic: "Have you got your kitaab and qalam?"
  • School vocabulary is practical and easy to reinforce daily.

💡 Learning Hints & Memory Tricks

  • "Kitaab" (book) — sounds like "key tab" — you need a key to open a book of knowledge!
  • "Qalam" (pen) — this is where the English word "calligraphy" comes from!
  • "Madrasa" (school) — you might have heard this word before; it is used in many languages!
