Essay autopsy: read a weak and a strong Arabic essay — what makes the strong one better? List the differences.

Main Activities

  1. 1Teach the three-part essay structure: مقدمة (introduction), صلب الموضوع (body), خاتمة (conclusion)
  2. 2Introduction techniques: hook the reader with a question, statistic, or provocative statement
  3. 3Conclusion techniques: summarise, give final opinion, look to the future

Developing Arguments with Evidence

Extended Writing and Self-Editing

Editing challenge: find and correct 8 errors in a short Arabic text (spelling, grammar, style).

Main Activities

  1. 1Choose a text type and topic — plan, write, and edit a 250+ word piece independently
  2. 2Self-editing protocol: check grammar, then vocabulary, then connectives, then overall structure
  3. 3Tracing practice for formal writing vocabulary from this unit
  4. 4Final portfolio: select your best piece of writing from Year 10 and explain why you chose it
