Saying Hello and Goodbye

🌅 Warm-Up (5 min)

Teacher enters saying "Marhaba!" with a big wave — children repeat 3 times with increasing energy!

Main Activities

  2. 2Practise in pairs: take turns greeting each other with "Marhaba!" and replying

Recap: greet three classmates with "Marhaba!" — can they reply?

Main Activities

  1. 1Introduce "Shukran" (thank you) — practise saying it clearly 5 times
  2. 2Introduce "Afwan" (you're welcome) — pair it with Shukran in call-and-response
  3. 3Passing game: pass an object around the circle, say "Shukran" when receiving, "Afwan" when giving
  4. 4Complete the greetings vocab cards — match Arabic words to English meanings

Good Morning!

  • Say "Sabah al-khayr" (good morning)
  • Ask "Kayfa halak?" (how are you?)

Greetings chain: each child greets the next with a word they have learned.

Main Activities

  1. 1Teach "Sabah al-khayr" — practise in chunks: "Sa-bah... al-khayr"
  2. 2Teach "Kayfa halak?" and the reply "Ana bi-khayr" (I am fine)
  3. 3Morning routine role-play: pretend to wake up, greet family using all learned phrases
  4. 4Draw and label: illustrate a morning scene and write Arabic greetings in speech bubbles
